A Friendly Hello.

My name is Geoff Bain and I am honoured to be President of the Rotary Club of Glossop from July 2008 to June 2009. This year we are celebrating 70 years of Rotary in Glossop and I am looking forward to welcoming the President of Rotary in Britain and Northern Ireland to our club Charter Night on 29th October.  Our main fund raising activity is again our famous Glossop Jog (5th October) Monies we raise this year will go to support the Manchester Adoption Society Charity. Other “Service Above Self Activities” we are organising are:

Our annual Carol Service for the elderly.

Youth Speaks and Young Chef competitions.

Junior chess competitions.

Helping people become more environmentally aware.

Helping people live a healthy life – We are to hold a Stroke Awareness day.

Helping fund Rotary’s No.1 Challenge - The eradication of Polio worldwide.

Providing tools and assistance to poor communities in Africa and India.

Supplying Shelter Boxes to people & families affected by natural disasters.

As well as service activities, on the club social side we arrange visits to concerts, go to quiz nights, and have meals out, hold barbeques etc. We will also be attending our annual conference (this year at Southport) So, we are going to have a busy year, however in all our activities we aim to have fun and fellowship. We welcome anyone of you to come to one of our meetings - have a meal with us and listen to an interesting speaker- any Wednesday evening at the Windy Harbour Farm Hotel, Glossop
